Building the Year: March Motion
March Motion
You’ve heard of Newton's First Law of Motion, also known as the law of inertia. It states that: an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. This law is a fundamental principle in classical mechanics and is often summarized as "An object in motion stays in motion." It is a key concept in understanding the behavior of objects in the physical world and is the foundation further exploration of motion laws in physics.
Spring is almost here. Even in Minnesota, we can see the
sidewalks again. It may still be cold, but we are getting a point where outside
is an option. I know there are some others like me that are outside no matter
what the weather. The old saying goes: “There is not bad weather, only bad
gear.”, so as long as you have the equipment for it, you can be out in any
conditions, any time of year.
I know it’s not that simple. I’ve heard some great feedback from
you on topics, so we are going to weave those into this month as well. It’s not
enough to just say “move more”. That sounds easy, but there is more to it.
I’ve also heard from folks that want to talk more about:
Protein
GLP-1’s and the needs that come along with that
General Goal Setting
And that leads us to the real heart of the matter. We can
say “I am going to move more”. I know just saying “March movement” or “March momentum”
doesn’t actually do anything. It may sound fun, but I know that saying is one
thing, but doing as another. So goal setting is going to be weaved into all of
this. When you decide that March is a good month for momentum. When you decide
that it is a good time of year to start getting outside more - or just being
more active indoors, as that is a great way to do it to – you are going to need
more than just a catchy slogan. You are going to need a plan. A plan that
answers questions like:
What are we going to?
When are we going to do it?
Where are we going to do it?
Maybe the most important question to ask ourselves is:
Why are we going to do it? Why do I want to be more active?
Sometimes starting with a “Why” can remind us what we are
after in the first place.
More on that to come, but for now, share your answers on the
above questions and your thoughts on what challenges you may encounter as the
month goes on.
As we work on building this plan together, keep in mind that
whatever challenges you may have, others are likely to have the same
challenges. If we can share challenges, we can also share solutions. Teamwork
makes the dream work. I promise you, you are not alone in the struggle. You
have people around you that can help. If you don’t want to share publicly, you
have a coach here that can help you privately with no judgement, just support.
March is a great month for more movement, to keep momentum
going, and to kick off the spring with the goals in place to keep things going
all year.
