February Foundation - Sleep

  February Foundation #2 Sleep This month we are focusing on the foundation. When I say “foundation”, what comes to mind? Do you think of a house, a building or some kind of structure? Do you think of the bottom or the base of something? All of those images are what I want us to be thinking about for February. Foundation is the base, the bottom or beginning of a structure that we will be building. We will be building this structure, and it all starts with this part. The base. The foundation. We asked a few questions to start our foundation conversation:  What are the most important things we need in place? What barriers are you seeing to putting these in place?   Who are we talking to about the plan? February is not the first month of the year. The first month of the year always gets pinned to the board as our “starting point”, our “new year”. That is great for physically turning the calendar pages and changing the pages hanging on the wall. But that is a very old way of looking at the calendar. Who still has a calendar on the wall?   Introducing OUR Monthly Themes As I talk to clients about the year, we are already past January, so I hear some rumblings about new year, it’s easy to think about all the things that we haven’t accomplished yet or how the year hasn’t started exactly how we wanted it to. That’s ok. And these conversations actually gave me an idea. It’s not fully baked, but I want to share it with you because I think I need your help to finish building it.   We are building a community, building a rhythm into our program – I’ve seen each of my clients have their own rhythm to the daily, weekly, monthly and even to the year. I want to work with that. I want to use that to set up something that works. So, as I write this, I am putting a plan together to: Build intentional steps around each month – each month is going to have a theme Build progressively and fit together for a whole year – each month will stand alone AND build to an annual routine that can yield progress.
